Norwegian Forest Cat
About the Norwegian Forest Cat
A natural breed from Norway, adapted to survive harsh Scandinavian winters. Their waterproof double coat and tufted ears and paws are built for snow. Featured in Norse mythology as the cats pulling the chariot of Freya. Nearly extinct after WWII before Norwegian breeders revived them. Official cat of Norway. Excellent climbers with strong claws. Despite their wild appearance, they are gentle and patient with children.
