About the Persian
One of the oldest cat breeds, brought to Europe from Persia in the 1600s. Flat-faced (brachycephalic) appearance requires daily face cleaning to prevent tear stains. Their luxurious long coat needs daily brushing to prevent mats. The most popular pedigree cat in the US for decades. Queen Victoria owned two Persians, boosting their popularity. Calm and sweet-tempered, they prefer quiet homes.
