About the Selkirk Rex
The newest Rex breed, discovered in 1987 in a Montana shelter cat named Miss DePesto. Their curly coat is caused by a dominant gene (unlike Devon and Cornish Rex which are recessive). Come in both long and short hair varieties. The only Rex breed with all three hair types (guard, awn, down). Their curly whiskers are distinctive. Often called the poodle cat. Calmer than other Rex breeds.
