About the Chartreux
An ancient French breed, possibly brought to Europe by Crusaders. Their woolly blue double coat is unique among cats. Known as the cat of the Carthusian monks (though the connection is debated). Charles de Gaulle reportedly owned a Chartreux. They are unusually quiet — they rarely meow, instead chirping or making small trilling sounds. Excellent mousers. Their smiling expression comes from the shape of their head.
