Scottish Fold
About the Scottish Fold
Named for their distinctive folded ears, caused by a genetic mutation affecting cartilage. First discovered in 1961 on a Scottish farm in a cat named Susie. The fold varies from single (ears bend forward) to triple (ears flat against head). All Scottish Folds can trace ancestry to Susie. Some are born with straight ears (Scottish Straights). Prone to osteochondrodysplasia (joint/bone issues). Banned by some breed registries due to health concerns.
